Hi Jeff, Suggestion: How 'bout putting short captions, or at least the name & grad year of photos of individuals (reunion shots etc) so we can place the more mature face with the friend? Having said that, I will try to post a photo sometime soon 8)

Hey, that would be great to have some local contact from those interested--especially anyone I might have known before, from let's say 63 thru 67--I have a lot of good memories from those HHS years. Thanks!

Sure do James - Page 51 in my 1965 Torch right next to Barbara Slavin! Couple years behind you (I was '67) - sounds like you've had a fascinating life so far! If you are in SoCal there is a nucleus of HHS alums near SD/LA that get together once in awhile and I'd be happy to put you in touch with them. jeffsalisburyhhs1967@yahoo.com

Hi! Not sure who would remember me? I was living abroad for many years, most recently 24 years in Asia doing various types of mission/humanitarian work. I'm from the Hoiwell High class of 65, graduated from Eastern Michigan in Jan.1970. I've recently come back to the States and living in California and working with Activated Ministries. Would love to hear from any old friends? Might even visit sometime soon. Thank you for this site, Jeff--Appreciate all the work and helping people make connections!

Hello Highlanders,

I graduated in 1978, went to CMU and then moved out to California. I've been in San Francisco with my daughter 17 years now.  Where are the rest of the Alumni?  I'm starting to get in touch with some on Facebook.  I'm under Susan Pavlick Barrick

Reading through "Old Howell Eateries", I don't see any mention of "Cooleys" or what we called Pop Cooleys. It was located in the middle of the 1st block North of what is now the US Post Office. Back in the 50's the all-in-one school occupied the space the post office now has. The summer we moved to Howell, I devised a method to enjoy Cooleys' hot dogs and root beer. Haircuts in Brighton were 10 cents. In Howell, they were 40 cents. A round trip on the Greyhound Howell to Brighton was 10 cents. After a bus ride and a hair cut, I was left with 20 cents to blow at Pop Cooleys. Now add the 10 cents dad gave me every week to stop at Cooleys after my haircut, I then had 30 cents. Well, 30 cents would have been enough for 6 hot dogs and 3 root beers. Most weeks, I ate 2 dogs and a root beer. My stash of money built all summer until one day I was spotted by our dad as I exited the bus returning from Brighton. The deal was, we didn't tell mom and I got to keep my stash of dimes and nickels. Surely someone else out there remembers "Cooleys". Walt Fletcher / 1959
